Audrey Merritt Car Accident, Death – Canton, Georgia – Audrey Merritt, who was my wonderful and kind niece, passed away tragically in a car accident last evening. She was unfortunately unable to be rescued. During this trying time, we ask that you remember our family in your prayers and that you keep us in your thoughts. Just a few weeks ago, I’m thankful that we were able to have some time to ourselves and spend it together. She shone like a bright star everywhere she went because of the extraordinary compassion and talent she had.
I was there on the day that she came into the world, and ever since that time, she has been such a gift to all of the people who are in her life and the lives of those who she has touched. Her sister Emma Merritt, along with her father Charles Merritt and her mother Karen (who is also my sister), is particularly in need of prayers of comfort at this time. These are the words of the text that I’m holding on to today.
It is the same with you: Right now, you are going through a time of grief, but one day I will see you again, and when I do, you will rejoice, and no one will ever be able to take away that feeling of contentment from you. John 16:22
Dealing with the death of a person we knew and loved is never an easy or simple process. But Jesus Christ came into the world to conquer death, and He did so by rising from the dead after being laid to rest there. This was the only way He could achieve this mission. If we have a personal connection with Jesus Christ, there is no longer any need for us to be terrified of passing away.
