Dale Rodberg DEath, Obituary – On May 6, 2022, at the age of 63, Russ Alan Rodberg unexpectedly passed away in his favorite recliner in his house in Twin Lakes. It appeared like he passed away quietly. After graduating from LMHS, he found employment as a sous chef at the Hyatt Regency, where he delighted in telling tales of preparing meals for notable figures, including the president of the United States. He was a storyteller at heart. After that, Russ found employment as a cook on oil rigs located off the coast of Texas.
In addition, he has experience working in the construction sector. He was an authentic Aquarius who cherished the sea and had a deep-seated interest in fishing. On the oil rig, in his leisure time, he fashioned his own fishing equipment out of a coffee cup and some fishing line. He caught a wide variety of Gulf fish, and at one point he even reeled in a shark that was so enormous that he was desperately yelling for assistance. He also had a passion for hunting and trapping and spent a lot of time outside appreciating nature and the fresh air.
Russ took great delight in leading a simple existence, and he was happy spending his days in the company of his cats and his guitars. In addition to such activities, he liked to get his hands dirty in the garden, try out new recipes in the kitchen, and kick back with friends and family while shooting the breeze. Even at a young age, Russ had a flair for the dramatic, as evidenced by the fact that he had his first black eye before the age of two. He delighted in causing mischief and having a good time, and he didn’t mind getting into a little bit of trouble along the way. He loved to amuse anyone who would listen.
His siblings, Cindy Olson of Stillwater, Minnesota, Julie Karjalahti of Shakopee, Minnesota, Jodie Stinehart of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Jim Rodberg of Scarville, Iowa, will feel a void in their lives without him. Additionally, Russ is survived by his aunt Lynda Vis, his uncle David Prestholt and his son David, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. His mother, Carole Rodberg, and his father, Dale Rodberg, as well as his birth father, Chris Despenas, all passed away before him. He was the last surviving member of his family.
May you finally find peace, you crazy and wild boy! Doggone it, a lot of people thought highly of you, and they won’t forget you very soon. A memorial service will be held on May 11, 2022 at noon at the family gravestone located in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery on North Lake Street in Lake Mills, Iowa.
