Diane Brunn Death, Obituary – Diane Birman Brunn, age 60, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 30, 2023. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. She was the daughter of Robert and Janice Birman and was born on April 16, 1962 in the city of Piqua in the state of Ohio. Her father, Robert Lee Birman, passed away before she did and is buried next to him.
Diane is survived by her devoted husband of 12 years, Mark Brunn; her son, Brandon Klopsch; her daughter, Brooke Shearer; her two step-daughters, Kristin (Brian) Taylor and Erin Brunn; her three grandchildren, Andrew, Jordan, and Lucas; her mother, Janice Birman; and her two sisters, Debbie Jackson and Denise Montgomery. In addition, she is survived by a large number of members of her family and friends.
Traveling was Diane’s most beloved pastime activity. She and Mark went on a lot of incredible trips together, more than the average person does in their whole life. They particularly enjoyed traveling to less visited parts of the Caribbean, where they could escape the crowds of visitors and cruise ships and focus on immersing themselves in the local culture without interruption. She found a unique kind of happiness in planning gatherings for her children Brandon, Brooke, Kristin, and Erin, as well as her three grandchildren.
She relished any opportunity to be outside, whether it was going on a walk, working in the yard, riding her bike, or playing stick-gathering with her three grandkids. Diane was a dedicated member of the Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church for the past three decades, during which time she served in a variety of volunteer capacities and positions of leadership. Playing cards and board games was one of Diane’s favorite ways to pass the time, particularly games of Euchre with her friends and board games with her son Brandon.
The arrival of Diane’s three grandsons was a source of immense delight for her. She devoted every waking moment to being with them, and in doing so, she was a source of inspiration and strength for her daughter Brooke. Diane was a proud veteran and a graduate of the United States Military Academy in 1984. She graduated just 5 years after the military academies started allowing women to enroll in the program.
During her time in the military, Diane was a member of the illustrious 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles” and served as a paratrooper. After transitioning back into civilian life, she attended and graduated from the University of Dayton Law School in 1996 at the top of her class, all while raising her children Brandon and Brooke. She enjoyed a prosperous career as an attorney in Dayton up to the year 2021, when she decided to retire.
Above all else, Diane looked for opportunities to assist anyone who was in need of assistance. She made it her mission in life to improve the quality of life of anyone she came in contact with by bringing them happiness and solace. All of the people whose lives she touched are going to miss her terribly.
