Elaine King Death, Obituary – On the evening of April 6, 2023, at the Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, Elaine King, age 86, passed away following a brief bout with illness. Elaine was the daughter of James Davis and Evelyn Otte Davis, and she was born and reared in Terre Haute, Indiana, along with her sisters Beverly (Donald) Long of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Patricia Davis, who passed away before she did. Beverly and Patricia both preceded Elaine.
Elaine first met the man she would spend the rest of her life with, William F. (Bill) King, in Terre Haute. Their marriage lasted for 67 years. They relocated to Evansville in 1957, where they brought up their three daughters: Terry (Jeffery) Kaul of Ivanhoe, Illinois; Kristie (Donald) Dubord of Evansville, Indiana; and Cindy McDonald, who passed away before to their arrival.
Bill and Elaine King were highly interested in sprint car racing and the Hoosier Auto Racing Club after they had finished raising their daughters. Bill designed and manufactured sprint race vehicles that routinely finished in first place. These cars were known for their speed and precision. Elaine and he spent a considerable amount of time on the road accompanying the drivers of their cars.
On the east side of Evansville, the hardworking couple who cherished their time spent together in the workplace established a machine business called Kings Custom Machine. Elaine was able to follow her passion for gardening and crafts while also supporting her husband financially and helping out with the bookkeeping for the company they had together.
The one thing that made Elaine happier than anything else was seeing each of her grandchildren succeed in their own unique ways. Jennifer (Daniel) Griesmann of Villa Park, Illinois; Scott (Shannon) Kaul of Streamwood, Illinois; Elizabeth (Marc) Olson of Bellevue, Washington; Lori Clegg of Evansville, Indiana; Ryan (Lindsey) McDonald of Evansville, Indiana; Matthew (Monica) Dubord of Evansville, Indiana; and Michael McDonald of Evansville. She and Bill were the proud grandparents of all of their children and grandchildren.
As the years went by, they were blessed with the addition of 15 great-grandchildren to their family: Aiden (who had previously passed away), Avery (who had previously passed away), Lincoln; Abigail; Adara; Ethan; Benjamin; Beckett; Kyle; Sawyer; Russell; Camdyn; Maxwell; Mila; and Oaklyn.
In the year 2017, Bill and Elaine became the proud owners of a little Yorkshire terrier who goes by the name Lainie. Lainie has provided them a great deal of love and happiness. Elaine had breast cancer and had been in remission for 25 years when we met her. She was an avid sports enthusiast. She was a mediator who offered love, stability, and sensitivity to her close-knit family. Her family was very close to each other. She will be sorely missed by everyone.
On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, friends and family are welcome to stop by the Browning Funeral Home at 738 E. Diamond Avenue in Evansville, Indiana between the hours of 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, the time of the service.
