Emilia Rastelli Death, Obituary – On the evening of Saturday, October 31, 2009, Emilia (Rydarowski) Stahura died away at the Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. She was 90 years old. Emilia was born in the home in Plainfield that belonged to her family, and she grew up and remained there until 1956, when she and her late husband, Thaddeus, moved to South Plainfield. Emilia’s family still lives in Plainfield.
She graduated from Plainfield High School in 1937 and began working for the city of Plainfield the following year in 1938. The year 1937 was the graduation year for Plainfield High School. In 1950, she made the decision to give up her job so that she could devote her time to becoming a mother to her four children. She started working for the City of Plainfield once again in 1970 and continued doing so until the year 1987, when she took early retirement. She had been a member of the Municipal Clerks Association for the past ten years while simultaneously working during same period as the City Clerk for Plainfield.
During the time that she was a parent, Emilia was an active participant in the activities of the South Plainfield Parent Teacher Association. In addition to this, she served on the board of directors of the South Plainfield Adult School back when it was first being started and the doors were first opened. In addition to this, she had been a member of the Rosary Altar Society of the Roman Catholic Church of St. Stanislaus Kostka in the past.
Following her retirement, Emilia discovered that her favorite things to do were doing crossword puzzles, reading, and watching movies and the news. But above all things, Emilia’s absolute favorite thing was attending family gatherings where she could spend time with her offspring and grandkids.
Her husband Thaddeus, her son in law James Tierney, and her brothers and sisters in law Ted and Agnes Rydarowski, Maureen Rydarowski, Stella and Louis Kubiak, and Helen Blaszak all went away before she did. Her sister in law Helen Blaszak also passed away before she did.
Her surviving children are Donna Tierney, Karen Stahura, Amy Rastelli and her husband Kenneth, and Janice O’Neill and her husband Dennis. Janice O’Neill and her husband Dennis are among her survivors. Both Amy Rastelli and her husband Kenneth have made it through this ordeal alive. Amanda Hood and her husband Gregory, Trevor Rastelli, Bradford and Alexander Tierney, Christopher, Connor, and Meredith O’Neill are her seven grandchildren.
Her great-grandchildren are Christopher, Connor, and Meredith O’Neill. In addition, her brother Julian Rydarowski is a grandfather to seven little ones. Her brothers-in-law were Theodore Blaszak, Stanley Stahura and his wife Dorothy, Edwin Stahura and his wife Donna, and Edwin Stahura and his wife Dorothy. Her other brothers-in-law included Edwin Stahura and his wife Donna.
At the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, which can be found at 2425 Plainfield Avenue in South Plainfield, New Jersey 07080, funeral services are slated to begin on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 9:15 AM. After this, a funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in the St. Helena’s RC Church situated at 950 Grove Avenue in Edison, New Jersey. You can see the church’s address here.
Following the conclusion of the funeral services, the burial will take place in the Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield. On Wednesday, visitation will begin at 4:00 PM and continue until 8:30 PM. The service will be place at the funeral home. Everyone in the family and all of their friends are encouraged to come.
