The funeral home is located at 47 East Main Street. On Thursday, May 24, at 10 o’clock in the morning, funeral services will be performed at the St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Freehold. Mrs. Scanlon spent her whole life in the town of Freehold, despite the fact that she was born in Howell. In spite of the fact that she was born in Howell, this is the case. After putting in a considerable length of time at the McGraw Hill Company in Hightstown, she ultimately made the decision to retire earlier than expected.
Emma was an active member of the St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Freehold, which she regularly visited and was a communicant at. Mrs. Scanlon was born after her parents, Charles and Emma Borden, had both passed away by the time she was born. Mrs. Scanlon was the daughter of Charles and Emma Borden. Both of her husband William LeRoy “Mike” Scanlon and her son William “Billy” Scanlon perished away before she did. Her husband passed away in 1970, while her son passed away in 1953.
Her passing follows on the heels of their own respective deaths. Her sister Dorothy Hampton, her sister Evelyn Cullen, and her brother Charles Borden are the only members of her family who are still alive at this time. All three of them currently reside in Freehold. A daughter named Barbara Coons who lives in Florida, a sister-in-law named Lois Borden who lives in Freehold, and a number of nieces and nephews who have also managed to escape the disaster are some of the other members of the family who have made it through the calamity.
