Harry Shalford Obituary, Death – Williford, Arkansas native Harry Carl Shackelford, who was 87 years old and lived in Williford, passed away on November 7, 2019, at the emergency room of the White River Medical Complex in Cherokee Village, Arkansas. On February 23, 1932, he was born in Milligan Ridge, Arkansas. The exact date of his birth is unknown. After serving in the United States Air Force for a period of time, Harry moved on to launch his own company afterward. He started his own successful business as a backhoe operator and built it up over the years. In addition to being the creator of the rocket shot, Harry was a very successful businessman in the house construction industry. He was an accomplished woodcarver and was particularly well-known for his work producing violins.
Survivors include his sons, Joel (Susan) of Hardy, Ark. and Jody (Crystal) of Cherokee Village; 8 grandchildren: Jeffrey, Joseph, and Ashley Shackelford, DeAnna (John) McGinnes, Christopher and Bradley Lawrey, Dalton Coble, and Lilly McMahon; 20 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Terry (Jeanette); honorary family member, Scott Shaffer; and many other relatives and good friends.
Joseph Riley and Lela May (Rice) Shackelford, five of Harry’s brothers (Dub, Ralph, Donald, Kenneth, and Jody), one sister, Pauline Finney, and one son, Michael, all passed away before Harry did. Also predeceased by Harry were his parents. Michael was the first of Harry’s children to pass away, making him the first child overall to do so. The memorial services are not going to take place until a later date.
