John Arrington Obituary, Death – Charlotte, North Carolina – On March 11, 2020, John James Arrington, who resided in Greensboro, North Carolina, died away with his family at his side in a tranquil setting. He was 89. John Monroe Arrington and Juanita Harris Arrington, both of whom predeceased him, welcomed him into the world on November 22, 1930 in Amarillo, Texas. Between the years 1949 and 1958, he was a member of the United States Air Force. After that, he entered the civil service and worked as a sheet metal fabricator for the Air Force until his retirement in 1982.
John possessed wit, tenacity, and an infectious sense of humor. He took great pleasure in making other people laugh through the telling of stories, the telling of complex jokes, the pulling of naughty pranks, and the sharing of his artwork. His hobbies were shooting sports, the collection of oil lamps, reading, woodworking, painting, photography, writing, and gardening. He was also skilled in the art of knife making. John never left the house without a knife in his pocket.
In addition to his own parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Bryant Arrington, as well as his daughters Tina Werner and Kim Fair, as well as his brothers Gerald and William Monroe Arrington. He is survived by his granddaughters, Melissa Slater and her husband AJ of Harrington and Sierra DeLuca and her husband Vincent of Upper Chichester, Pennsylvania; his great grandson, Julian DeLuca; and his son-in-law, Fred Fair of Dover. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Fred Fair.
