John Porco Obituary, Death – The proprietors of Johns Boy Pizza, one of the most well-liked businesses in the borough, have decided to close the restaurant this week as they mourn the loss of John Porco, who was one of the company’s founding owners. Porco passed away earlier this week. The Rock Road pizzeria will be closed from the 12th through the 16th of April. They will reopen on the Monday after that, the 17th.
It was announced on the organization’s Facebook page that “Unfortunately, John Boy passed away on April 8, 2023.” He was a wonderful example of the ideal father, grandfather, husband, and provider that one should strive to be. He held Glen Rock in such a profound place in his heart. “He is going to be sorely missed by each and every one of us. We are giving ourselves permission to mourn over his departure by giving ourselves some time. I am appreciative of the fact that you have understanding.
During the 1980s and 1990s, a local photographer by the name of Simon Toffell observed that the pizza shop acted as a warm and welcoming meeting place for local high school students in the surrounding neighborhood. According to Toffell, between the hours of three and four o’clock in the afternoon, it was the gathering spot for those who had finished school. When you stepped through the door, you were welcomed as warmly as if it were one of your best friends. This happened every time.
