Julia Ituma Death, Obituary – Julia Ituma, an Italian volleyball player who was 18 years old and of Nigerian origin, passed away in Istanbul, Turkey, following what is believed to have been a fall from the window of her hotel room on the sixth floor. Ituma passed away a few hours after the Champions League semi-final match between her club, Igor Gorgonzola Novara, and Eczacibasi Dynavit of Turkey. The match was played in Italy.
The body of the former volleyball player was discovered on Thursday morning in front of the hotel, according to a statement released by the Istanbul police. Ituma can be seen walking down the corridor and entering her hotel room “for the last time” on the surveillance footage that was published from within the hotel.
The player also had some time to reflect beside her hotel room door, where she sat for “an hour in a pensive and thoughtful manner.” It was said that she was carrying on a conversation on the phone while she went for a walk.
In a statement, the Italian Volleyball Federation referred to Ituma’s passing as a “tragedy” that has an impact on “Italian sport and the volleyball world.” A minute of silence will be held in remembrance of Ituma at each and every volleyball event that takes place between Thursday and Sunday, according to the announcement made by the federation.
A portion of the statement reads, “We are all dismayed by this tragedy which affects not only the volleyball world but all of Italian sport,” and this sentiment is shared by all parties. “My first thought goes out to Julia’s family, to whom I extend my most sincere condolences and guarantee that the Italian Volleyball Federation will provide as much support as possible,” you may say.
“Igor Volley would like to extend their sympathies to Julia’s family and loved ones and share in the suffering that they are going through at this time. The club and all of its members, who are devastated by the loss, have decided to maintain a respectful silence on the topic, as stated in the letter the club sent out.
The family of Ituma, the Novara family, and the entire volleyball community have my deepest sympathies. On behalf of EczacbaĆ Dynavit, I offer my deepest condolences.
