Kathy Page Murder, Death – Vidor, Texas police found an automobile crash on May 14, 1991, about daybreak. The driver was lifeless, her skin chilly. It seemed like a terrible accident. Within minutes, perplexing facts emerged. The automobile and deceased lady were unharmed. Front seat soft drinks were unspilled. Instead of reaching for the pedals, her feet were forced back against the seat. She was unbuckled, yet the accident didn’t hurl her forward. The collision involved Vidor Police Department Detective Sergeant Ray Moseley:
Being no damage to the vehicle’s inside and very little to its exterior, and the ditch’s depth… Clearly staged. So they thought their death was questionable.” Kathy Page was 34. She was married with two children. Kathy lives 100 yards from the collision. Kathy’s husband Steve answered the police’s knock. Detective Sergeant Moseley was skeptical after speaking with Steve: “He said, well, his wife was not home and looked straight down the street toward the car. Steve looked unhappy. He cried and fell on the sofa. He would bounce back up, chat, and not cry. This seemed odd.”
Steve Page, Kathy’s husband, became police’s focus. Page claimed innocence:
“I didn’t kill my wife. The evidence reveals the culprit was not Steve Page.” Kathy and Steve Page married nearly 13 years. Erin and Monica, their daughters. The ideal family. Steve said the pair had drifted apart: She told me she didn’t know who she was and was unhappy with herself. She sought Kathy’s identity. Because of that, we discussed temporarily separating to give her time to discover herself.” Kathy’s sister Sherry Valentine disagreed. She considered their marriage irreparable: “Kathy was definitely moving on in her life at that point because the divorce was decided, and that in itself was a relief off her back. She planned that.”
Kathy Page died at 4:15. Her body was unadorned. Her autopsy revealed strangulation and a fractured nose. Her panties and skin were bloody. Detective Sergeant Moseley found it odd that her outer garment was blood-free: Kathy Page survived the car accident. She was slain somewhere, cleaned up, redressed, and put back in her car after it was pushed into the ditch.” Police recreated Kathy’s last hours. She had intercourse just before her death. Kathy went out with a man instead of her girlfriend. The lover told Moseley that he and Kathy had love the night she died: “He came to the police station and gave us a statement and voluntarily gave us a polygraph examination, which he passed with flying colors.”
The autopsy showed Kathy had sex the night she died. The autopsy report included a crucial information. Kathy’s lover had a vasectomy. Boyfriend hadn’t. Kathy had intercourse with someone else that night. Steve Page? He was vasectomyed months previously. He told cops he had intercourse with Kathy before she left that night: She prepared. She just showered. We had sex before she left.”NSherry said Kathy’s marriage was no longer romantic: I doubt that occurred. She never dated Steve before. She hadn’t seen Steve in ages. He slept on the couch.”
