Len Gibbon Obituary, Death – Late in the week before last, Len Gibbon, who had been a respected member of our community for many years and who had fought in the United States Army during World War II, passed away peacefully at the age of 99. During the war, he had been a veteran. Len joined the Royal Army Service Corps when he was only 20 years old and worked his way up through the ranks to become a Despatch Rider for the organization.
Len was married in the beginning of June 1944, and only four days later, he received orders to report for service in Normandy as a participant of the Normandy Landings. He served in the military during World War II. Len was a wonderful individual who was a member of the family that comprised Care for Veterans. He was a man who was really larger than life, and he had a personality that none of us are ever going to be able to forget.
Through the donation of his time and going above and beyond in his efforts to assist the charity, he has been able to help raise thousands of pounds to finance the treatment and rehabilitation of disabled war veterans since he began working with our organization before the end of 2019. During this most difficult time, we would like to offer our deepest condolences to Len’s family and friends. We are really sorry for their loss.
