Lu Darr Obituary, Death – On Thursday, October 30, 2014, Fred Gordon Darr, who resided in Smithville, Missouri, passed away at the age of 82. On April 17th, 1932, he entered the world in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was given a second chance at life by his wonderful adoptive parents, Harry and Lois Darr. Fred spent his childhood on a farm and received his high school diploma from Green City. Fred tied the knot with Luella Hope in January of 1952. Before becoming the owner and operator of Darr’s Elite Cleaners and Laundry in Smithville and Platte City, Fred worked as a manager for a number of dry cleaners.
Fred loved attending the Smithville United Methodist Church and especially cherished the time he spent with the Methodist Church Tuesday Morning Coffee group. Fred was an active member of the church. He was a fan of vintage automobiles, an avid traveler, and a charter member of the Kansas City Arrowhead Car Club. cherished the company of his offspring. His parents, his brother John Lampe, his in-laws Herbert and Hazel Hope, and his niece Daphne Pinegar all passed away before him.
He is survived by his wife, Lu; three sons named Mike (Ann), Steve (Linda), and James (Tiernie); one daughter named Janet (David) Anderson; twelve grandchildren named Jennifer (Jason) Ayers, Jeromy (Ashley) Darr, Kimberly (Tommy) Casebolt, Jonathan (Amy) Darr; Christina (Scott) Cross, Chris (Lauren) Darr; Phillip (Susan) Anderson, Stephanie On Saturday, November 8th, at 2:00 p.m., there will be a Celebration of Life held at Smithville United Methodist Church.
