Mary Lou Miller Death, Obituary – Mary Alice Miller, who was 97 years old and from Goshen, passed away at the home of her son Marion Miller in Goshen on the afternoon of Monday, January 2. She was the daughter of Chris and Alma (Eash) Miller and was born in LaGrange on May 5th, 1925. She tied the knot with Alpha H. Miller on November 18, 1948, in the county of LaGrange; he passed away on May 2, 2010. Surviving are five sons, Wayne (Violet) Miller, Marion (Gloria) Miller both of Goshen, Larry (Donna) Miller of Millersburg, Glen (Tonda) Miller of Shipshewana, Devon (Jil) Miller of Middlebury; 15 grandchildren
Also 33 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Bontrager, Ruby (Jerry) Miller both of Topeka; two brothers, Cletus (Mary) Miller of Middlebury, Elvon (Lou Ida) Miller of Shipshewana; sister-in-law, Esther Miller of Topeka. Her husband, her parents, two of her great-grandchildren, Jenna Miller and Joey Foster, her brother Perry Miller, and two of her sisters, Nettie Mast and Katie Miller all passed away before her. Mary Alice was a member of the Townline Mennonite Church in addition to being a housewife.
Over the course of seven decades, she was a dedicated quilter. She had a natural talent for making guests feel welcome in their house and really enjoyed doing so. Both Mary Alice and her husband liked going on vacation, so they took a lot of excursions both inside and outside of the United States. On Thursday, January 5, visitation will be held from three to seven o’clock in the evening at the Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, which is located at 1003 South Main Street in Middlebury.
In addition, there will be a viewing that lasts for one hour before the funeral ceremony that takes place at 10:30 in the morning on Friday, January 6 at Townline Mennonite Church in Shipshewana. The Reverends Dean Yoder and Garrett Martin will preside over the services to be held. The interment will take place at the Townline Cemetery in Shipshewana.
