Mike Decker Obituary, Death – Michael Gerard Decker, 66, of Jesup, Iowa, died away at Carteret Health Care on Thursday, December 29, 2022. The Reverend Ryszard Kolodziej will preside over a funeral liturgy at St. Egbert Catholic Church on Monday, January 9, 2023, at 11 a.m. Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia has been selected for the eventual interment with full military honors. The family will greet visitors at the Munden Funeral Home on Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. Those who are unable to be there in person are encouraged to observe the memorial ceremony online through the obituary posted on Munden Funeral Home’s website.

He served with honor and distinction in the United States Coast Guard for many years. Michael was interested in all facets of government and kept up with current events, so he was well-informed about politics. He would confidently take on even the most challenging crossword puzzles. He liked a wide variety of outdoor activities, such as golfing, fishing, and gardening. Michael’s family and friends were always excited to eat the excellent dishes he prepared.
Michael was a lovely spouse for 40 years, doting dad, doting grandpa, proud brother, and dedicated sibling. Karen Elizabeth Decker, affectionately known as “Karen the Great,” is his surviving spouse, as are their three daughters: Dorrian Marie Decker (of Nesconset, NY), Erin Elizabeth Decker (of Morehead City, NC), and Meagan Marie Decker. Sisters Jeanne Anderson (Paul) of Elkton, Virginia, Diane Decker (Daniel Bircher) of Steelton, Pennsylvania, Maureen Beardsley (Mike) of Middleton, Pennsylvania, Debra Decker of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Linda Hagerty (Ed) of Enola, Pennsylvania, Lori Platt (Mike) of Longwood, Florida, and Elizabeth Conjar (Tom) of Enola, Pennsylvania; brothers Donald Decker (S Donald Decker, Michael’s father, passed away before his son was born.
