Steve Davis Obituary, Death – At the age of 71, Lancaster resident Steven Davis passed away at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville on March 8, 2023. He was the son of Eldon Davis and Leona (Giovinco) Davis, and he was born on July 21st, 1951 in Rockford, Illinois. The city of Rockford was Steve’s school location. After holding a number of positions in the construction industry, he started working in 1987 for Local 792 in Rockford, where he was employed as a Millwright. He also held positions on the board of the Chicago Regional Council and was a delegate for the organization. In addition to that, Steve worked in Milwaukee as a carpenter for a union.
In the late 1980s, he uprooted his life and went to Wisconsin. In Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 10, 1993, Steve and Karin Castillo exchanged vows and became husband and wife. Woodtick was a nickname that many people gave to him. Steve delighted in activities such as farming, operating the sawmill, and other manual labor that took him outside. He was one of a kind and unlike any other dude. Steve was larger than life and always had wonderful stories to tell whenever you crossed paths with him. He was hardy, obstinate, and as shrewd as a tack could be. In addition to this, he was unflinchingly loyal, and he looked out for everyone in his immediate vicinity. His chuckle was contagious to all. It is impossible to overstate how impressive the work that he did on the farmhouse was. He would toil from the moment the sun rose until it set. Steve was not afraid of anything and did not feel threatened by anyone. He will be sorely missed by everyone.
Survivors include his loving wife, Karin; his daughter, Jennifer Davis; a grandson, Luke Hoffman; his siblings: Diane Schuelke, Mike (Dee) Davis, and Fred Halsted, Jr.; father-in-law, Genaro Castillo; in-laws: Ramona (John) Mindiola, Mark (Sandra) Castillo, Jennifer Castillo, Sarah (Jeff) Castillo, Jason Castillo; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. His beloved dog Frankie and his parents Eldon and Leona Davis and Fred Halsted, Sr., as well as his mother-in-law Ruth (Tyler) Castillo, all passed away before Steve. On Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. through 3:00 p.m., a Celebration of Life will be held at the Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory located at 1234 S Madison St. in Lancaster. In Steve’s final days, the nurses at Upland Hills Health took care of him, and his family would want to express their gratitude to them. Their kindness and concern will not be forgotten under any circumstances.
