Zilla Watson Obituary, Death – Zilla E. Hinton, who was 84 years old and a resident of North, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church of North, with Rev. Sam Fordham and Rev. Larry Shull officiating. At Riverside Cemetery, both the funeral and the interment of the deceased will take place. At ten o’clock in the morning, the coffin will be brought inside the church.
The job of pallbearer will be filled by great nephews of the deceased. She was born in Branchville, South Carolina, and her parents, Robert E. and Ruby Hunt Hinton, both passed away before she was born. Miss Hinton is their daughter. She had been a member of North First Baptist Church up until the time of her retirement and had worked for SCE&G until that time. She was also an active member of the Republican Party and had a history of working for the state election commission. She participated in a variety of events that were going on in the neighborhood and the municipality.
Survivors include two nieces, Pam Salley of North, and Vickie (Buddy) Watson of Lexington; five nephews, Doug (Deborah) Salley of Cayce, Richard (Lori) Salley of Orangeburg, Steve (Debbie) Salley of North, Tom (Mary) Lynch of Roswell, Ga., and Herbert Lynch of Hesperia, Calif.; two special cousins, Ron Hunt of Charleston, and Sue Blanton Moore of Summerville; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
